The Best Three will each receive One Week Writers Retreat/Holiday
in Talbot House, Flanders, plus £200

Flash Fiction deadline is 31 March 2008

* Work emanating from the Talbot House experience (inc's all three competitions) will be considered for a further special publication.


General Rules - NB these rules apply to all three competitions

All entries to be in English. Any subject/form. Must be the original work of the entrant.

No entry/application form needed but please include cover page showing titles, word counts, author's name and address, phone, email. Please, also state which competition you entering.

Do not show identification details on the manuscript pages

Presentation: You can, if you wish, use both sides of your pages. Stories can be either single or double spaced. Poems should be single spaced.

Word count
Short stories between 1000 and 5000 words
Poems up to 42 lines maximum
Flash Fiction stories between 500 and 750 words.

Entry Fees
Flash Fiction competition, £9 for first entry, Additionals £3 each.
Short Story competition, £9 for first entry, Additionals £3 each
Poetry competition £9 for first three poems, Additionals £3 each.

You may submit as many entries as you wish. NB This is not a portfolio competition!
If you enter two or three of the competitions you could win two or three!

If you would like to email your work, you need to pay via Paypal (you can use credit cards if you don't have a Paypal account), receive an authorisation code.

If you require an acknowledgement, please include s.a. postcard.
Manuscripts will not be returned, so please keep copies. All copyright remains with the authors.

NB. The Talbot House prize is for one week to be taken between June 2008 - June 2009, your dates tba direct with Talbot House. You can go solo, or you can take friends at extra cost, which is not included. You can also extend the stay by paying the extra.

The Talbot House prize is not transferable, and there is no cash or other alternative. The prize includes £200 expenses. Should you, for any reason, not go to Talbot House, we will still pay you the £200.
