"An acute ear for the way people speak and a keen eye for the way they behave... brings both gifts to bear on a wide variety of characters and situations... tragic to hilarious."

Ann Schlee

"Sian Hughes pulls the reader in quickly to both situation and character. ...small events that speak volumes ... internal journey of the people involved."

Sarah Harrison

"Taut, spare prose - very good writing indeed."

Gavin Pottinger

"Accomplished story-telling. The Darras, for example, is told through the eyes of a child, the style deceptively simple, powerful."

David Gemmell
