The poems are the Top Twenty chosen from an international line-up of 350 poems. They represent artistic talent and altruism. Each of the talented poets paid a submission fee alongside their poems and the fees were handed to the Hexham branch of Chernobyl Childrens Life Line to help some of the children of Chernobyl enjoy a holiday away from the cancerous legacy they inherited.
