Tom Bryan was born in Canada in 1950 but has been long-resident in Scotland. He comes from an Irish-Canadian homesteading background. He is a widely published fiction writer and poet and has also published much non-fiction. He lives in Kelso in the Scottish Borders.

This is his first longer collection of short stories, having previously published six short stories in a small monograph, The Sons of Macomish by Two Rivers Press in Reading, in 2000.
