About
Us Biscuit was founded in 2000 by
the Lister family. There are six family members. Brian & Anne, Peter &
Jacqui are based in the north east of England; Martin & Wendy are in Sydney,
Australia. Biscuit Publishing takes its name from our very first book (now out
of print) called "The Biscuit Tin". Our logo bears reference to a boat
called Biscuit, owned by Lawrence of Arabia. We publish
mainly fiction, some non-fiction, and very occasionally poetry.
We
run the annual Biscuit, International Short Fiction and Poetry Prizes, offering
cash prizes and other special awards that change from time to time. The Biscuit
Prize is open to all UK and overseas writers. Our authors' reading venues extend
through the Royal Festival Hall (Voice Box) London; Literary and Philosophical
Society, Newcastle upon Tyne; various Public Main Libraries; Durham Literature
Festival; Hexham Book Festival and the Theatre Royal, Newcastle upon Tyne. Authors'
appearances & book signings have been held in Borders Bookstore.
